To Taking a Moment

I sit, writing this brief message to you folks today, on a large fallen tree that's been sanded smooth by the pounding surf in Kauai. It's easy while on vacation to find moments to really sit and reflect on your path in life — but much harder to do so in your day-to-day.

As I listen to the pounding waves, birds and kids off in the distance, I found myself in a state of conscious meditation. I don't often use the word blessed — but that's the term that comes to mind as I think about myself in this moment. I am incredibly blessed to have a day job that I enjoy, my own business that I am proud of and this blog that I have found immense passion in. Aside from little aches and pains, I have my health, my family and friends that are woven together in the ultimate support network and my life's mission in clear focus.

In the time we spend on Earth, we're faced with many obstacles. There are countless highs and terrible lows, but at the end of the day, we're all moving forward. Each step, no matter how small, should be celebrated.

I challenge you to carve some time from your week to reflect on what you're thankful for. Take a hike, go for a walk, even take a dip; but venture out into the world, find a spot that you feel is right and commit to hanging out sans technology. (Don't follow my lead on that one!) Spend some time with your own thoughts, reflect on how far you've come in your journey and what steps you want/need to take to bring yourself/your passion/your career to the next level.

I believe in you — and am here if you need words of encouragement, advice or a shoulder to cry on. Now get out there — there's no time like the present.
